Like many faith communities, St. George’s has a number of parishoners who are homebound due to illness or mobility problems. Though they cannot be physically present with us in worship, it is important that they share with us in the Eucharist. A Lay Eucharist Visitor is a person who brings the consecrated elements of the Eucharist to those who are not able to join our faith community on Sundays. Parishioners who volunteer for this ministry are trained and licensed by the Diocese of Minnesota. Folliwing the Sunday service, a LEV team visits with a parishioner in her of his home or at the hospital or extended care facility. Visits are usually 30 minutes or less. If you are interested in being part of this valuable pastoral ministry, please contact Laura Harmon. There will also be a sign up sheet in the parish hall. Additionally, if you know of anyone in need of a visit, contact either Laura or the parish office.
On Sunday, June 7th, we will formally recognize new members of St. George’s with special prayers during the 9:00 am service. Following the service there will be a brunch potluck, at that time we will recognize the people who are new to our faith community, celebrate the end of the Sunday School year, recognize people who have helped in Children’s Chapel, and celebrate the beginning of summer and the summer schedule. A sign up sheet is in the Parish Hall, so be sure to sign up to bring something. If you want to help organize, set up, clean up or plan, see Laura Harmon.

On June 20th, several west side Episcopal churches are joining forces for a BBQ and fundraiser to support Habitat for Humanity with food, games and live music on the Excelsior Commons from 3 to 9 pm. Opportunities still exist to help plan and carry out the event, and it’s a great way to network with other parishes. There will be a planning meeting on March 17th, for those interested in leadership of the event in Excelsior. Contact John Hagerman or Trinity Excelsior for more info or to volunteer.
